Minority in Assam, India

The root of Bodo history of is unkown. Today Bodo People live in Assam with a population of more than 1,2 Million People. They got an own culture and language. At the beginning of the last century Bodo's founded an own religion that included aspects of a social movement, but today most Bodos still are Hindus (90%) or Christians (9%). A political Movement claimed for more indepency in a  "Bodoland"-territory which now is part of a contract between the Assam district, the Indian government and the Bodo Liberation Tigers Force. The text of the contract can be found here. Officialy "Bodoland" exists since 2003.
